...And Everything Was Explained...
Posted by Jenevieve
Alright, here's a long explanatory post on everything happening in Casa Price recently, in Random Bullets form:
-I will be 21 weeks pregnant tomorrow. I look very pregnant, but my lack of showering skillz makes me not photogenic. If that changes, I'll let you know. The baby is now big enough to give me more distinct pokes, which is fun and only slightly annoying. The ante-natal care here has been *amazing*, a fabulous mix of caring and professional. I am no longer puke-tastic, so am eating everything that I can manage to find.
-We moved! This kind of happened quickly, or we would have let y'all in on the process. We had put our name on a list for a 2-bedroom uni flat a couple of months ago. The allocations people had assured us that we might be in for a long wait, and we were okay with that, since we didn't really need a bigger place until the baby was crawling, y'know?
Well, a couple of weeks later, they emailed me to say "There's a flat for you!" We looked at it, thought it was perfect, and... offered it to our neighbours. You know, the ones with the two toddlers and an infant and a dad who finds stairs challenging? The ones who were previously on a 3rd floor walk up? They definitely needed the ground floor flat more than we did, so we showed it to them and they took it. Yay!
We had resigned ourselves to staying on Guthrie, and then on Wednesday 28 March, they emailed again to say they'd had a surprise exit from another flat. I was working at the poultry farm that week, so Matt went and checked it out and recommended we take it. So we did.
We started moving in with A.J. and Rachelle's help (thanks, guys!), finished moving while simultaneously house-sitting 40 minutes away and working at a dairy farm (Matt= Rock Star), and got to sleep in our new place like we really lived there Tuesday 17th April. It's so cool! It's a basement flat, right next to The Meadows, close to the Dick Vet, and 200 steps away from Rob and Emma's new place. Wahooey! It is huge and quirky, and we'll try to take some pics or make a video or something.
-Finals are here. I had 4 finals this week- 3 Animal Handling/ Husbandry practical exams (horse, exotics, and cattle), and one written Animal Husbandry essay exam (nutrition, genetics, grassland management, etc. are included in this course). Next week I have an oral for my large animal anatomy class, then I have a week of neuroscience lectures (randomly placed in the midst of finals), then a week of immunology/pathology/parasitiology/bacteriology/virology finals, then my repro/neuro/anatomy final. I'm done 31st May. Whew.
-We've been rocking the house guests lately. First, A.J. and Rachelle, then Andrej and Sarah came (some acquaintances from L.A.) for 10 nights with their 17 month old son. It was a party. We're looking forward to establishing a routine in the new place that doesn't involve house-sitting for other people or having longish-term guests.
-We'll be back in L.A. in just over 6 weeks!
-Some funny quotes will almost certainly follow later today.
Edit: Quotes up!
-I think that's it.
